Do you need a roof replacement or just repairs?

Sometimes repairs are all you need to make your roof as good as new. Many times, however, an entire replacement of your roof is warranted. The insurance companies don't always want you to know this, so it's important that you get a second opinion before you settle for roof repairs after a storm has breached your home.

Roof repair? Beware!

Though sometimes all that is warranted is roof repair, please beware: Roof repair is not always the best solution. Read this before you agree to simple roof repairs!!! Sometimes the insurance adjusters may tell you that your roof needs repairs; which is most often true. Then, instead of paying for your entire new roof, they offer to make repairs only. This can be a sticky situation for the homeowner.

Matching shingle material

You've probably seen roofs about town with patches of shingles replaced, like on a wood shake roof. It doesn't always look aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Frankly, patchy shingles are an eye-sore.

Truth is, if these homeowners had insisted on it, they probably could have insisted on getting a new roof. Unfortunately, they probably accepted the insurance company's report and failed to go any further to insure their homes maintain quality curb appeal.

Many times it is difficult to conduct roof repair on older roofs. Why? Because it is difficult to locate matching shingle material. If the shingle on your roof is no longer being manufactured, it is impossible for you to get a consistent look with a different type of shingle. In such cases, the insurance company's are obliged to pay for not just roof repair, but an entire new roof. You pay insurance, therefore, you should get a new roof when it incurs hail and storm damage.

Wouldn't it be much better to get an entire new roof if that's what you are able to get? Our advice? Request a 2nd opinion or 2nd inspection from your insurance company if they come to you with a repair option.

When roofing repairs are warranted

Sometimes all you really need are repairs. When this is truly the case, roof repairs are relatively simple. Perhaps you have a few shingles that need to be replaced or some flashing that could use an adjustment. Many times trees and other objects close to the home damage roofs making roof repairs necessary. If this is the case, we give estimates on a case by case basis.
